St Oswald’s update 12.10.23

Dear Friends,

We so appreciate the many expressions of support you have sent to us over the past few weeks. We have been left in no doubt that you find St. Oswald’s Community to be a truly valuable resource and we remain committed to seeking creative ways of continuing this life-giving ministry of hospitality and welcome.

We are now able to provide more information about the building sale.

St. Oswald’s officially went onto the open market yesterday as has a guide price of £1.15m. Here is a link to the listing – https://www.boultoncooper.co.uk/property/woodlands-sleights-whitby-32652622/ We therefore feel that this is the right time for us to take the next step in considering the viability of us purchasing St Oswald’s.

It is with this in mind that we now have to ask about financial support.  We are asking whether you feel able to pledge a gift (which may also include gift aid) to enable us to buy St. Oswald’s?  We are mindful that the target is high, but we want to begin by gauging what level of financial support we may have. At this stage we are primarily asking about gifts, although long term interest free loans may be an option as well.

Thank you for all your expressions of support so far; for those who’ve already pledged money and also for those of you who are committed to praying for us. We are excited and yet apprehensive about what lies ahead of us, and so as we face the challenges of this next step we remember our calling to ‘fly on fragile wings, courageous and a little scared’.

This comes with our continued love and appreciation for all that you have done and all that you are.

With love and prayers
