It’s so good to be in touch again!
Over the last few weeks it’s been a joy to welcome our first ‘catered for’ guests which has brought a different feel to St Oswald’s: there have been people around! We’re excited to be able to provide a relaxed space for people to feel at home, to meet with God, to take in the beautiful surroundings and enjoy the company of others.
Spaces for both catered and self-catered visits over the summer are filling up fast, but please email us if you’d like us to check availability for you. There are still some spaces on the following themed weeks/weekends if you’d like to join us. Some only have very few spaces left so don’t miss out!
Walking week: Monday 16th – Friday 20th August. We envisage a mix of walks that will be about 5/7 miles long; taking in some of the local wonders of this piece of North Yorkshire. £260 per person.
Bank Holiday Weekend: 27th-30th August is available for you to come and join us for a chilled-out bank holiday weekend by the sea – what’s not to love! Special 3-day rate of £180 per person.
Individually Guided Retreat: 13-17th September. We are offering a silent Individually Guided Retreat. Each guest will be assigned to a Spiritual Director who they can meet with once a day. £260 per person.
Quiet Week: 4th-8th October. Join us for this quiet week where we can intentionally slow down and enjoy the stillness of this place. The house will be kept quiet for much of the time and Jackie will be leading a short reflection each day. £260 per person
Advent Retreat: 29th November-3rd December. The Advent Retreat is the perfect opportunity to prepare for the Advent and Christmas seasons. There will be periods of silence during this week, with a daily reflection and plenty of space to just be. £260 per person
Christmas Glass-fusing week: 6th-10th December. We are excited to welcome Michelle Gillam-Hull to St Oswald’s. There will be plenty of opportunity for ‘hands on’ experience and you’ll be able to take your creations home with you. £275 per person (a small additional charge has been added for materials). Please note there are just a few spaces left on this week.
New Year at home: Wed 29th December – Sunday 2nd January. Come and join us for a low-key few days as we say goodbye to 2021 and welcome 2022. There won’t be a programme, but if you prefer open-fires to fireworks, this weekend might be just the tonic! £260 per person.
Before we sign off we want to let you know that Suzanne has decided to become a volunteer with us rather than a community member. We are thankful for all that she has brought to our community and we look forward to continue working with her. This means that we are actively looking for new residential community members. If you know anyone who senses a call to community life, short or long term, then feel free to pass on our details so that we can start a conversation with them. We are also looking for volunteers who can occasionally help with a variety of practical tasks at St Oswald’s. Again, if this is you, let us know and we can talk about what that involves.
Our continued love and prayers,
Jackie, Paul & Michyla
