Dear Friends
As we journey through Holy Week we are praying that you would know the peace of the Lord’s presence. As we come to Easter Sunday, our prayer is that you’ll experience the joy and hope that the Risen Lord brings.
We have some exciting news to share… Suzanne joins our community today (1st April). As someone who has been involved both with the Order of the Holy Paraclete and with St. Oswald’s Pastoral Centre she will be no stranger to many of you! We are so pleased that she is with us on the next step of our adventure.
We’re looking forward to re-opening our doors to self-catering guests on 12th April. Bookings are going very well but we still have some availability if you’d like to come for a break. We hope to open the main house and offer full board from June 21st (restrictions permitting) and so we’re now happy to take provisional bookings for catered visits.
We have planned a Walking Week from Monday 12th – Friday 16th July. This will give us the opportunity to sample some of the grandeur of God’s creation here in North Yorkshire, as well as to eat together! We will also be running a silent Individually Guided Retreat from Monday 13th – Friday 17th September. We’d encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to ‘come home’ to God, especially as we come out of the pandemic with all its confusions and questions. Please contact Michyla in the office (office@stoswalds.community or 01947 810496) to make a booking.
Lastly, a number of you have asked if we have a ‘wish list’ so that you can make a specific contribution to the work here. Whilst our aim is always to make use of what’s here and what we have so generously been given, we are aware that some of the bed linen and quite a bit of the crockery has been well loved and used over the years and is now coming towards the end of its life.
We calculate that it would cost £27 for a single set of hard-wearing bed linen – we’d initially be looking to equip the main house bedrooms with 2 sets per room (18 single and 2 double sets in total). A dinner place setting works out at £6.30 per head and we’d be looking to buy approximately 30 sets. If you would like to contribute in any way: either in whole sets or part, please be in touch. We will then purchase them centrally. You can email us at office@stoswalds.community and the account details are: a/c no: 65995121; Sort code: 08-92-99 (Co-operative bank).
Thank you for your partnership with us. We appreciate all your support and prayers.
Our love and blessings for this Passiontide and Easter season,
Jackie, Paul, Suzanne and Michyla
